Yellow Buckeye

(Aesculus Flava)

Location: Near the No. 15 fairway.

Tree information: Introduced in 1764.  Alkaline tolerant and fairly drought tolerant.  Most disease resistant of the Buckeye group. The fruit is poisonous to humans.

Size: The largest of the Buckeyes gaining 90’ in height.

Growth rate: 1 to 2’ per year.

Foliage description: Typical Palmate leaf pattern characteristic of Buckeye. Distinguished by Yellow Flowers in the spring.  Fall color usually yellow and orange.

Provenance: Schictel’s Nursery. Trees were grown from seed collected in Olmsted Park South Park in Buffalo, NY.  Planted in 1999.
